Workshop-The great class podcast
Make a podcast in class!
Listening to a podcast is a media phenomenon that has become increasingly popular in recent years. But what makes a good episode, what does it take to create a good podcast, and how do you use your voice?
In the ‘The Big Class Podcast’ workshop, children learn in 90 minutes, in a fun and interactive way, how to create their own episode. Through a challenging teaching concept, pupils work together in small groups to develop the various segments that an episode might contain. The topics will be chosen by the pupils themselves, and if they’re struggling to decide, we’ll of course be happy to help them get started.
Our guest tutors, who have years of experience in the podcasting world, are highly motivated to turn these workshops into a successful class podcast! There are two options to choose from: one where the raw audio files are shared separately (standard), or an option where final editing is included at an additional cost and a ready-to-listen-to product is delivered.
Key objectives
Key Objective 1: Understanding yourself and the world
Use in the classroom: The pupils learn to express themselves through podcasting, and they gain an understanding of how different media can help them to share ideas and stories. They practise expressing their own opinions and presenting ideas.
Key Objective 37: Media literacy
Use in the classroom: Pupils develop a basic understanding of what a podcast is, how to create one and the techniques involved. They learn the difference between various media and use technology to convey their own message. This ties in with the development of a critical approach to the media.
Key Objective 40: Creative and expressive ability
Use in the classroom: By recording a part themselves, pupils use their creativity to tell stories and convey ideas. They learn to work together and to apply their creative skills within the context of audio recording techniques.
